The statement of mother-in-law Menekşe K., who killed her 25-year-old daughter-in-law Burçin Şahin with a gun in Istanbul, has emerged. It was claimed that after the incident, the suspect went to the window, said, 'I killed my daughter-in-law, I cleaned my honor,' and smoked a cigarette for a while. In her statement, she said she committed the murder due to an 'honor issue'.
In Şişli, Menekşe K. (58) shot and killed her son's religiously wedded wife Burçin Şahin (25) in the head after her son had been in prison for 6 years. Following the incident, it was claimed that the suspect went to the window, said "I killed my daughter-in-law, I cleansed my honor," and smoked a cigarette for a while. It was learned that Menekşe K., who was taken into custody, said in her statement, 'How dare you cheat on my son, my son is in prison. You have children, aren't you ashamed?' I said. I took the gun and fired.'
MOTHER-IN-LAW AND DAUGHTER-IN-LAW ARGUMENT ENDS IN BLOOD
The incident occurred on Saturday, May 2, around 13:15 in Eskişehir Neighborhood. According to information obtained, it was learned that Haydarcan K. was in prison for 'Theft', and his religiously wedded wife Burçin Şahin was living in the same house with her mother-in-law Menekşe K. In an argument that broke out at home for an unknown reason, Menekşe K. fired 2 shots at Burçin Şahin's head with her unlicensed gun.
FIRED 2 SHOTS TO THE HEAD
Upon notification, police and health teams were dispatched to the scene. Health teams determined that Burçin Şahin had lost her life during checks. Teams examining the scene found 2 empty casings outside and 4 inside the house. It was learned that the deceased Şahin had 2 children.
SAID "A MATTER OF HONOR"
It was claimed that after the murder, the suspect went to the window, said "I killed my daughter-in-law, I cleansed my honor," and smoked a cigarette for a while. It was learned that Menekşe K., who was taken into custody by police, said in her initial statement that the incident was a 'Matter of honor'. It was learned that the suspect stated that her son had been in prison for 6 years, she suspected that his religiously wedded wife Burçin Şahin was cheating on him, and her suspicions increased on the day of the incident when she saw messages on her phone, upon which she became angry and fired 2 shots to the head with the gun at home.
"YOU HAVE CHILDREN, AREN'T YOU ASHAMED"
It was learned that in the continuation of Menekşe K.'s statement, "I said, 'How dare you cheat on my son, my son is in prison. You have children, aren't you ashamed?' Then her siblings took their children and left, the two of us remained at home. I said, 'How could you do this,' and she responded with an insult, saying 'I'll do it.' Then I got angry, took the gun that was in the cabinet, and fired."
MOTHER-IN-LAW ARRESTED
Police teams caught the suspect Menekşe K. with the unlicensed gun used in the incident. While the suspect, taken to the Şişli Public Security Bureau, was undergoing procedures at the police station, an investigation was launched into the incident. It was also learned that Menekşe K. had a finalized 6 years and 8 months prison sentence for 'Drug trafficking'. On the other hand, after police procedures were completed, Menekşe K. was referred to the courthouse.
HUSBAND DIED OF DRUG OVERDOSE 24 YEARS AGO
The suspect, brought before the court, was arrested and sent to prison for 'Intentional killing'. It emerged that Menekşe K.'s husband Selahattin K. had died due to a high dose of drugs 24 years ago.
