In OSMANIYE, the battery of a mobile phone being repaired at a technical service caught fire. The incident was reflected in the workplace's security camera.
The incident occurred at a mobile phone technical service on Atatürk Avenue in Adnan Menderes Neighborhood. Business owner Semih Duysak wanted to reassemble the device after repairing the customer's faulty mobile phone. During this time, the swollen battery suddenly caught fire. The incident, which caused brief panic, was recorded by the workplace's security camera.
IT HAPPENED TO US FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 15 YEARS
Semih Duysak, who stated that he had been working in the technical service sector for about 15 years, said that this was the first time such an incident had happened to him. Duysak explained that after fixing the faults in the device's technical components, the swollen battery caught fire during reassembly, and said, "Unfortunately, there was a swollen battery. The device also had another fault. After fixing the problems in its technical components, while reassembling the phone, as a result of an unfortunate accident, the battery caught fire in our hands."
ALWAYS REPLACE SWOLLEN BATTERIES
Drawing attention to the fact that lithium batteries in particular can pose a risk when they reach the end of their service life, Duysak said, "If your phone's battery is swollen or if there is any kind of warping, we recommend that it be replaced directly. This replacement must absolutely be done by expert people at professional technical services. In the incident we experienced, the battery suddenly caught fire while we were placing the phone into its case. God forbid, if such an incident occurred while a mobile phone was in a pocket or during use, it could cause much greater damage. Our friendly advice to our citizens is to replace their old and swollen batteries without wasting time."
