The deportation of a Uighur Turkish mother of two, who was taken to Kumkapı Repatriation Center after her residence extension application in Istanbul was rejected, was halted on the order of Interior Minister Çiftçi. It drew attention that Deputy Head of Migration Management Niyazi Ulugölge was dismissed immediately after this development.
A Uyghur Turkish mother living in Istanbul was referred to the Kumkapı Removal Center after her residency extension application was rejected. Following growing reactions on social media, Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi stepped in.
MOTHER RELEASED
Writer Yusuf Kaplan brought the issue of Mıhrıgül Tayurak, a Uyghur Turkish mother of two, being taken to the Removal Center to the agenda. Minister Çiftçi responded to Kaplan's post. Initially sharing the message "I will look into it, my teacher," Çiftçi soon gave the good news, announcing that the East Turkestan mother had been released with these words:
"Dear Teacher, we will accept the international protection application of the relevant person, and the problem will be resolved this way. Also, the Uyghur Turkish lady has been released from our removal center."
NİYAZİ ULUGÖLGE DISMISSED
Following Minister Mustafa Çiftçi's directive, the deportation process was halted, and new appointments were made in the Presidency of Migration Management after the incident. Deputy Head of Migration Management Niyazi Ulugölge was dismissed, replaced by Murat Karakaya, and Davut Düzgün, General Director of Administrative Services, was replaced by Ahmet Türköz, Deputy General Director of Civil Society Relations of the Ministry of Interior.
MUHAMMET SELAMİ YAZICI BECAME HEAD OF MIGRATION MANAGEMENT
Meanwhile, Muhammet Selami Yazıcı, General Director of Information Technologies of the Ministry of Interior, was appointed as the Head of Migration Management. Hüseyin Kök, who previously held this position, had been appointed as the Governor of Nevşehir in early May.
