US ATTACKS ON IRAN
Last night, Iranian media reported that explosion sounds of unknown cause were heard in different parts of the country. Fars News Agency announced that residents of Bandar Abbas heard several explosions, but the situation in the region was under control. Similar explosion sounds were reported in the cities of Jask and Sirik near the Persian Gulf. Additionally, it was reported that a hostile unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was destroyed by the Iranian Armed Forces in the Persian Gulf region.
US: WE CONDUCTED DEFENSIVE ATTACKS
A statement came from the US on the matter. According to a report by US-based Fox News, CENTCOM Spokesperson Tim Hawkins said, "US forces conducted self-defense strikes against targets in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces." Hawkins stated, "The targets included missile bases and Iranian boats attempting to lay mines. CENTCOM continues to defend its forces with restraint during the ongoing ceasefire."
"THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE CEASEFIRE HAS ENDED"
A senior US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, shared information that two military boats belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz and a missile base in Bandar Abbas were targeted. The official reiterated that the attacks were "defensive," while two separate sources stated that the developments "do not mean the ceasefire has ended." It was also reported that the attacks have ceased for now.
