The tornado, seen between Sungurlu and Çankırı's Kızılırmak district, caused damage in Sungurlu's Oyaca and Kavşut villages. Upon notification, fire department, gendarmerie, AFAD, and medical teams were dispatched to the village.
In the initial inspection, it was determined that the roofs of some houses in the villages had flown off, and trees and electricity poles had toppled. Damage assessment and cleanup work has been initiated in the villages.
"DAMAGE IS EXTENSIVE"
Visiting the villages, Governor Ali Çalgan said, "Our village has 60 households. Seasonally, 22 to 25 households are occupied, while the owners of the others live in big cities."
Emphasizing that serious damage occurred in the region due to the tornado, Çalgan stated the following:
"The damage is extensive, but our joy is that we have no loss of life, thank God. We have 5 injured. Three of them were treated on-site by medical staff in the ambulances that came here. Two were taken to the hospital as a precaution. One had respiratory distress. We couldn't provide power here yet. Since the device needs power, we sent him to the hospital. Another had a cut, so we sent him."
"80 PERCENT OF THE BUILDINGS ARE UNINHABITABLE"
Çalgan said, "Especially in our village of Oyaca, the damage is unfortunately extensive. Meaning, 80 percent of the buildings are uninhabitable. We will accommodate them in both the village community center and AFAD tents. Their food and drink needs are being met. An offer for accommodation in the district center was also made, but since they did not want to leave their homes, they will stay in the village."
