The Presidential Directorate of Communications' Center for Countering Disinformation (DMM) denied claims that "Turkish aircraft harassed planes carrying Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and European ministers, and that Turkish aircraft violated Greek airspace."
In a statement made on DMM's NSocial account, it was stated that the claims appearing in some press outlets and shared on social media accounts that 'Turkish aircraft harassed planes carrying Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias and European ministers' and that 'Turkish aircraft violated Greek airspace' are completely false.
The statement noted that on June 7, 2026, four out of six air traffic flights operating on the Greece-Southern Cyprus Greek Administration (SCGA) route violated the airspace of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Therefore, two Turkish F-16 aircraft on alert duty stationed in the TRNC were immediately scrambled as a precautionary measure.
The statement recorded the following:
'The aircraft operated over TRNC airspace and did not violate SCGA airspace, and no harassment was conducted against the aforementioned traffic flights. On the other hand, all flights conducted on June 6, 2026, as part of the 115th Anniversary of the Air Force Command and the 'Youth and Aviation Festival' were carried out within the 2nd Main Jet Base Command flight zone, and Greek airspace was not violated in any way. It is kindly requested not to give credit to the allegations put forward with the aim of manipulating the international public and creating provocation.'
