It has been finalized by the Supreme Court decision that siblings Henry Kevin Jackson and Candice Jackson, living in the USA, are the children of İzmir-based businessperson Kasım Pırlant. In the case, where DNA tests showed a 99.9% match, the legal battle over the inheritance and will process for the siblings, who emerged years later, continues.

Starting his career in 1973 as a waiter at an entertainment venue in Chicago, USA, later purchasing a restaurant in the same state, entering the real estate business in 1978, and owning 9 shopping malls by the time he returned to Turkey in 1985, Kasım Pırlant made a name for himself in the economic world with investments worth millions of liras starting in Izmir in 2005.

THEY REALIZED THEIR MOTHER'S WORDS WEREN'T TRUE

While Pırlant's investment journey continued; siblings Henry Kevin Jackson (45) and Candice Jackson (41), who were born and raised in Chicago, realized that the words of their mother Carolyn Jackson, who died in 1999, 'Your father abandoned us. He has a shipping company in Greece and lives there,' were not true, so they set out to find their father. Going to the Chicago Club where their mother had worked years ago and speaking with employees, the children were told that their father was Kasım Pırlant, who also worked at the same place, and that he had worked together with their mother Carolyn at this club years ago. Upon this, Kevin and Candice Jackson researched Kasım Pırlant, whom they believed to be their father, over the internet. The Jackson siblings came to Pırlant, whom they learned was in Izmir.

HE DIED WHILE THE LEGAL PROCESS WAS ONGOING

Candice and Kevin Jackson met with Kasım Pırlant twice in Izmir. The two siblings stated that Pırlant did not legally acknowledge them as his children. Therefore, the Jackson siblings went to court in 2018. Pırlant passed away in 2023. DNA samples taken during the trial process revealed that the Jackson siblings had a 99.9% DNA match with Pırlant. In a ruling issued in 2023 by the 13th Family Court, the judge decided that Candice Jackson and Kevin Henry Jackson should be registered in the population records as the children of their father Kasım Pırlant.

OBJECTIONS DID NOT CHANGE THE DECISION

Following objections to the Family Court's decision, the case was taken to the 2nd Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation. The Civil Chamber, reviewing the case, ruled that the local court's decision was in accordance with procedure and law. The ruling emphasized that the parties' mutual claims and defenses, documents submitted to the file, legal rules applicable to the dispute, adjudication and evidence processes, and the court's grounds were evaluated together, while noting that the objections raised in the appeal petition were not of a nature to require the reversal of the decision. Meanwhile, it was learned that the Jackson siblings' lawsuits for the annulment of the will and objection to the sale of the shopping mall are ongoing.
