After the U.S. military's withdrawal from Syria, the first images were shared from parties in Syria. The images show U.S. military convoys withdrawing from the Conico gas field in Deir ez-Zor province and moving to the Hasakah region.

The New York Times (NYT), based in the USA, claimed that the US military has begun to withdraw hundreds of its soldiers from northeastern Syria due to the changing security environment following the ousting of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in December.

3 MILITARY BASES CLOSED

The New York Times (NYT) reported, citing two senior US officials, that the US military has reduced its troop count from 2,000 to 1,400 by closing three of its eight small military bases in the northeast. According to the report, the bases to be closed include the Green Village Support Base, M.S.S. Euphrates, and another smaller facility. NYT stated that the withdrawal process will be reassessed after two months, but it is recommended that at least 500 soldiers remain in Syria.

TRUMP HAD ANNOUNCED THE WITHDRAWAL

It is known from his previous presidential term that US President Donald Trump wanted the complete withdrawal of American soldiers from Syria. While the Pentagon and CENTCOM had previously been cautious about the possibility of a complete withdrawal, it is now stated that this partial withdrawal decision has been approved by the Pentagon and CENTCOM in line with the recommendations of field commanders to close and consolidate the bases.
