Following Israel's attacks on Iran, the UK temporarily withdrew its personnel from its embassy in Iran, citing the security situation in the region as the reason.
The UK announced that it has temporarily withdrawn its British personnel working at its embassy in Iran due to the security situation in the region following the conflict that began with Israel's attacks on Iran.
The clashes that started with Israel's attacks on Iran continue. While mutual attacks persist, diplomatic traffic has also intensified.
UK WITHDRAWS PERSONNEL FROM IRAN
Meanwhile, a critical move came from the UK. In the updated travel advisory published by the UK Foreign Office, it was stated, "The UK has taken precautionary measures to temporarily withdraw its personnel from Iran. Our embassy continues to operate remotely."
Additionally, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced in a post on the social media platform X that they would arrange charter flights from Tel Aviv for British citizens when the airspace reopens.
Lammy called on British citizens to inform that they are in Israel so they can receive guidance.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 13, Israel launched extensive attacks targeting the military's high command, primarily focusing on nuclear facilities in various cities of Iran.
In the attacks, the Chief of General Staff, the Commander of the Revolutionary Guards, and several senior commanders, along with 9 nuclear scientists, were killed.
The Iranian Ministry of Health announced on June 15 that the total civilian death toll from Israel's attacks was 224, with more than 1,277 injured.
In the Iranian army's retaliation against Israel with ballistic missiles, it was reported that 25 people were killed and 2,517 were injured.
