The U.S. Army sent a crew to the oil tanker M/T Tifani, which is reported to be providing support to Iran. They also released footage of those moments.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced that American naval forces intervened with an oil tanker in the Indo-Pacific region during the night hours. It was stated that the operation was carried out against a ship that is on the sanctions list for allegedly providing material support to Iran.
U.S. SEIZES THE SHIP
According to the statement, U.S. forces conducted a maritime interdiction and boarding operation on the M/T Tifani, a crude oil tanker reported to be "stateless" and located within the INDOPACOM area of responsibility, before the incident occurred. It was noted that the vessel, which is said to fly the flag of Botswana, did not show any resistance during the operation.
It was recorded that the tanker was heading towards Singapore and was last detected in the Indian Ocean.
“NO PASSAGE FOR SANCTIONED VESSELS”
The U.S. Department of Defense emphasized that global maritime inspections against vessels alleged to provide material support to Iran will continue. The statement included, “International waters are not a sanctuary for sanctioned vessels.”
