The United States launched 'Project Freedom' to ensure safe passage for commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, while U.S. Central Command also began supporting the process. CENTCOM announced that guided missile destroyers, over 100 air assets, unmanned platforms, and 15,000 troops will take part in the operation.
US President Donald Trump announced that the "Freedom Project" process to safely remove ships from the Strait of Hormuz would begin in the morning. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) also took a critical step due to the increasing tension in the Middle East and security risks in the Strait of Hormuz. The Command announced that it began supporting the "Freedom Project" as of May 4 to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships.
TRUMP GAVE THE ORDER
In a statement from CENTCOM, it was stated that the operation was initiated by order of US President Donald Trump, and support would be provided to commercial ships wishing to freely transit the international trade corridor.
THE LIFEBLOOD OF GLOBAL TRADE
CENTCOM, highlighting the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, emphasized that approximately one-quarter of the world's oil trade passes through this route. The statement also noted that significant amounts of fuel and fertilizer products are transported via this line.
Therefore, the operation was described as critical not only for regional security but also for global energy markets and supply chains.
"A NECESSARY MISSION"
CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that the operation is defensive, saying, "Our support for this defensive mission is necessary for regional security and the global economy while maintaining the naval blockade."
MASSIVE MILITARY FORCE IN THE FIELD
The operation will involve US Navy guided-missile destroyers, over 100 air assets, unmanned platforms, and 15,000 troops. These forces are planned to escort commercial ships to ensure safe passage.
TRUMP HAD ANNOUNCED THE OPERATION
US President Donald Trump announced that the "Freedom Project" process to safely remove ships from the Strait of Hormuz would begin in the morning.
American President Trump stated on his social media account that many countries with ships in the Persian Gulf had asked him for help. He conveyed that the US Navy would escort these ships out of the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump declared that these ships and countries have nothing to do with the Iran war. The US President named this plan the "Freedom Project."
He emphasized that the countries in question have promised not to return to the region until the Strait of Hormuz is secure. Trump also noted that the supplies for the crews on the ships were running low.
The US President described the plan as a humanitarian move and warned that force would be used if it is blocked.
Trump said, "Our representatives are having very positive talks with Iran, and these talks could yield very positive results for everyone."
