President Erdoğan attended the funeral of the Gültekin family, who lost 14 members in the fire tragedy in Bolu. In a brief speech, Erdoğan said, "We had a long-standing friendship as a family. Our hearts are broken, we are in pain." Zehra Sena Gültekin, who lost her life in the fire, was the daughter of Mehmet Güner, the AK Party's 22nd Term Member of Parliament for Bolu.
In the Grand Kartal Hotel located in Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Resort, a fire tragedy claimed the lives of 76 people. The victims of the tragedy that plunged Turkey into mourning are being sent off on their final journey. President Erdoğan and his wife Emine Erdoğan also attended the funeral of the Gültekin family, who lost 14 members in the fire disaster.
"WE ARE HERE TODAY TO FULFILL THE RIGHT OF NEIGHBORHOOD"
Zehra Sena Gültekin, an employee of Turkish Airlines who lost her life in the fire along with her husband, three children, and relatives, was the daughter of Mehmet Güner, a member of the 22nd Term of Parliament from the AK Party, and Hatice Güner, one of the founding members of the AK Party. In a speech after the funeral prayer, President Erdoğan said, "Mr. Mehmet was my parliamentary friend, and we served together in the parliament. We had a long-standing friendship as a family. We are here today to fulfill the right of neighborhood. Our hearts are broken, we are in pain. Right now, we are striving to fulfill this duty. I wish patience to all his family and our nation."
ANOTHER FAMILY LAID TO REST
Meanwhile, Specialist Doctor Ahmet Çetiz (44) who lost his life in the hotel fire, along with his teacher wife Habibe (39), and their children Vedat (11) and Esat Çetiz (9), were laid to rest in Ankara amid tears. It was reported that DNA samples were taken from their relatives to identify the body of Vedat's twin, Sedat Çetiz. The funeral was attended by the Çetiz family's relatives, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, Great Unity Party Chairman Mustafa Destici, and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş. The Çetiz family's funeral was held at Gölbaşı Cemetery after the noon prayer, amid tears.
