In stormy weather, giant waves in the Black Sea caused damage along the coast of Inebolu in Kastamonu. Cracks and hollows appeared in the protective seawalls. Due to the impact of the waves threatening the coastal road, there were splits and sinkholes in the parking areas. Residents in the area are anxious.

The scene after the storm in the Black Sea, where the General Directorate of Meteorology issued intermittent warnings for severe storms and snowfall, has caused concern.

WAVES HAVE CREATED CAVITIES IN THE RETAINING WALLS

In the İnebolu district of Kastamonu, waves exceeding several meters in height after the storm have created cavities in the retaining walls they struck. The waves threatening the coastal road have also caused cracks and subsidence in the parking areas.

"BLOCKS THAT WOULD BREAK THE SEA WERE NOT BUILT"

Citizens living in the apartments on İsmetpaşa Street in the Cünürye neighborhood have started to experience fearful moments due to the waves. One of the residents, Sedat Köseoğlu, stated that he has lived on the İnebolu coast since his childhood. He noted that the sea was not this close to the houses before, saying, "This wall was not here before. This is a fill road. When the sea came from further away, it spread out and did not harm anything. The wall was built, it looks nice. We can't say it's bad. But in front of this. If there were star blocks or normal blocks in front of this, it would have prevented the road from collapsing because it would break the sea." he said.

"WE CAN'T SLEEP COMFORTABLY IN OUR HOUSE"

Köseoğlu expressed that they constantly experience anxiety due to the waves, saying: "Right now, we can't sleep comfortably in our house. With every sea occurrence, especially this time, all the blocks here and the blocks behind shook. We tried to get out of bed as if there was an earthquake. The buildings are damaged by the strong incoming sea waves. Tomorrow, when this wall collapses, since the ground here is sand, these blocks will slide down as they are. I live in a 3-year-old building. I noticed that the grout in the bathroom has opened up. Women are really very scared. The other night, I even dared to take my car to a farther place. I looked in the early morning, because we understand from the sea. The sea broke and the shaking decreased. I swear we can't eat because of the shaking. I swear we are shaking on the chair."

Köseoğlu stated that they expect the authorities to find a solution to their problems as soon as possible and to build a breakwater in the sea.

"EVEN WHILE EATING, THE HOUSE IS SHAKING"

Mehmet Özdemir, who lives in the same area, said, "I have been living on this coast since 2001. We live in fear at home. It feels like an earthquake has happened and it will collapse. Even while eating, the house shakes. It feels like we have no chance to stay at home. It's terrible. Only those who experience it know. Because it shakes so much, I am even considering selling the house, but who would buy it now? That's why we want a solution from the authorities as soon as possible. A solution needs to be found quickly. Otherwise, we have a life-threatening situation in our homes. It shakes like there has been an earthquake. It feels like it will collapse. We go outside out of fear. It shakes so badly. It's impossible to sleep at night. We go outside at that hour of the night." he said.
