Renowned journalist Reha Muhtar passed away at the age of 66 in the hospital where he was receiving treatment. Following Muhtar's death, his testamentary post shared years ago has resurfaced. Muhtar's statement about his ex-wife, "It is my will to my loved ones, Deniz Uğur should not come to my funeral if I die," also revived memories of past custody crises.

Following the passing of journalist and presenter Reha Muhtar, one of the well-known figures of Turkish television, at the age of 66, his past "will" post has resurfaced. The expressions Muhtar used about his ex-wife Deniz Uğur have started being discussed again after the news of his death.

HIS WILL CAME TO MIND

Following the news of Reha Muhtar's death, some posts he made last year have been brought back to the agenda. Muhtar had commented on the issues artist Ferdi Tayfur experienced with his family, expressing that he did not want similar events to occur in his own life.

In his post, he said, "Ferdi Tayfur not being able to see his daughter who is under the influence of her mother, the incidents at his funeral after his death—I hope that doesn't happen to me. All my struggle is for that..."

"DENİZ UĞUR SHOULD NOT COME TO MY FUNERAL"

One of Reha Muhtar's most talked-about statements was his post about his ex-wife Deniz Uğur. In his post, Muhtar said, "It is my will for my loved ones: if I die, Deniz Uğur should not come to my funeral."

CUSTODY CRISIS

At the center of the disagreements between Reha Muhtar and Deniz Uğur was the custody of their children. The couple separated in 2010 with a signed protocol, agreeing that custody of their twin children, Mina Deniz and Poyraz Deniz, would remain with their father, Reha Muhtar.

However, in the following years, new legal processes regarding custody occurred between the parties. As a result of the lawsuit filed by Deniz Uğur, the court decided to grant custody of the children to the mother.

NİLÜFER WAS ALSO MENTIONED

During the process following Reha Muhtar's brain hemorrhage in 2024, the tension within the family also came to light. Deniz Uğur claimed that her son Poyraz had been kidnapped, accusing artist Nilüfer and her daughter. While Nilüfer denied these allegations, Poyraz released a video stating that he had not been kidnapped.
