The world-famous Russian violinist and conductor Sergey Stadler, who was on a flight from St. Petersburg to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport, suddenly fell ill. The plane made an emergency landing at Bucharest Airport in Romania. Despite all the interventions by doctors, the Russian artist passed away.
On April 20, Monday, Pegasus Airlines flight PC-397 took off from St. Petersburg to operate the Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport route. The aircraft was redirected to Bucharest, the nearest airport, after a passenger suddenly fell ill, declaring a medical emergency.
THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING
The Airbus A321 passenger plane with tail registration TC-RBG issued an emergency signal by changing its transponder code to 7700 after the cockpit crew reported the situation to air traffic control and safely landed at Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport at 17:47.
WORLD-FAMOUS RUSSIAN VIOLINIST PASSES AWAY
It was learned that the passenger who fell ill on the plane was the world-famous Russian violinist and conductor Sergey Stadler. The Russian conductor passed away despite all interventions.
St. Petersburg Governor Aleksandr Beglov issued a condolence message due to the death of the former rector of the conservatory. The statement said, "Stadler, originally from Peterburg, dedicated his life to music from a young age and graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory. His name has become a symbol of the highest performing arts."
WHO IS SERGEY STADLER?
Virtuoso violinist Sergey Stadler was born in 1962 in Leningrad. Stadler served as the rector of the Petersburg Conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov from 2008 to 2011. In 2013, he founded the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and served as the artistic director of the orchestra. Since 2018, he had been the head of the 'Violin Performance' training program at St. Petersburg State University.
