The President of YÖK, Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, announced that the option of graduating in three years, similar to examples in Europe, is being evaluated. Following this statement, President Erdoğan also gave a signal. Erdoğan stated that the "applied education model" will be promoted in universities and that structural reforms to be implemented in the new period will address the possibility of students graduating in three years.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that a new era involving comprehensive changes in the higher education system will begin.

Erdoğan stated that universities "must lead society and provide solutions to current problems," indicating that a profound transformation in the education system is on the horizon.

Erdoğan, who said, "The university must be at the forefront of society, it should lead society and develop solutions to the current problems of society. Otherwise, it means that it cannot fulfill its primary mission," expressed that the "applied education model" will be widespread in higher education, and internship practices will be transformed into workplace-based vocational training.

"GRADUATION WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THREE YEARS"

President Erdoğan noted that in the new era, course plans will be simplified, and students will be directed towards application and research-based learning models.

Erdoğan, who used the expressions, "One of the most concrete outcomes of this transformation will be the introduction of structural reforms that will offer our students the opportunity to graduate in 3 years, as in many European countries," emphasized that with these changes, the efficiency of the Turkish higher education system will increase and it will become compatible with international standards.

THE FIRST STATEMENT CAME FROM YÖK

The Higher Education Council (YÖK) had announced that they were working on a change aimed at enabling successful students who meet the necessary conditions to complete their undergraduate education in 3 years.
