22-year-old Arzu Aydın, who works as a tailor, was sentenced to 3 years, 2 months, and 3 days in prison as a result of the lawsuits filed against her for allegedly giving her cousin her IBAN number in 2023. It was learned that Aydın, who entered prison on October 28, 2025, has 14 separate cases, and she received a 2-year, 2-month prison sentence from one of the cases that is currently in the appeal stage.
The mother of the young woman, Türkan Budak (44), who is 50% physically disabled due to muscle wasting disease, argued that her daughter is a victim.
"She gave her IBAN to her cousin and went to prison"
The mother Budak, who separated from her husband some time ago, claimed that her daughter fell victim to her good intentions, saying, "My daughter trusted her cousin and gave her IBAN in 2023. A total of 15 lawsuits were filed against my daughter because of that IBAN. She received a sentence of 3 years and 2 months from one case. They took her away from home. She stayed in Tarsus Closed Prison for 1 month. She is currently in Karataş Women's Prison. I am going through very difficult times. My little daughter has lupus, and I have a muscle disease. We want this victimization to be resolved," she said.
"Let these young people not suffer"
The mother Budak expressed that her daughter also has a 2-year, 2-month sentence in the appeal, saying, "I hope that such a thing does not happen. If it does, I cannot bear it anymore. Let these young people not suffer. Fraud has been committed in my daughter's name. There are no major victimizations. Although those who suffered demanded high amounts, I sent them. I fell into debt, but as long as my daughter is saved," she spoke.
"Not being able to reach out to one's child is the hardest thing"
Mother Budak, who stated that she has difficulty walking, said, "My hand and foot were her. My daughter even prepared my meals. I go to visit her every week so that the young girl does not feel downcast. I feel very bad when I see her in prison. It is very difficult to leave her behind, behind that door. Not being able to reach out to one's child is the hardest thing. May God not let anyone experience the pain of losing a child. My daughter made a mistake at the age of 19. Her ignorance has cost us all," she said, breaking down in tears.
