Doğukan M. (21), who is alleged to have defrauded A.K., a 24-year-old mentally disabled person he met on social media in Sancaktepe, of approximately 120,000 liras, was kidnapped by the victim's relatives, who forced him into a car. The young man, who was allegedly held and beaten in an empty container in Kartal, was rescued in an operation supported by the Special Operations forces, and 5 suspects were caught. Doğukan M., who thanked the police, was detained for the crime of defrauding a mentally disabled person.
Doğukan M. (21), who is alleged to have defrauded a 24-year-old mentally disabled person with whom he became friends on social media in Istanbul's Sancaktepe, was kidnapped by the victim's relatives. Doğukan M., who was allegedly forcibly held inside a container and tortured, was rescued by police. Five suspects who carried out the incident were caught by police. It was learned that proceedings were initiated against Doğukan M., the victim of the incident, on the charge of defrauding a mentally disabled individual.
In Sancaktepe, at around 16:50 on October 13, 2026, a person who called the police reported that his friend Doğukan M. had been forcibly put into a car on the road and kidnapped. An investigation into the incident was launched by the Robbery Bureau Department. It was also determined that the moment the victim was kidnapped was recorded by security cameras. In the footage, the suspects were seen forcibly putting the victim into the car and then leaving the street.
SPECIAL OPERATIONS OPERATION AT THE CONTAINER
In the investigation conducted by Robbery Bureau Department teams, police followed security camera footage and determined that the suspect was forcibly held in an empty container in Kartal. Upon this development, an operation was organized with the participation of Special Operations police. During the operation, Doğukan M. was rescued, while 5 suspects who committed the crimes of kidnapping and forcible detention were caught.
THEY KIDNAPPED HIM BECAUSE HE DEFRAUDED
The suspects interrogated at the Public Order Branch Directorate claimed that Doğukan M. had befriended A.K., who is mentally disabled, and, by receiving various gifts from him, committed fraud amounting to approximately 120,000 liras. It was learned that the suspects said they carried out the incident to take revenge for this.
THANKED THE POLICE, COULD NOT ESCAPE DETENTION
On the other hand, victim Doğukan M., who was tortured and beaten while being forcibly held, thanked the police who rescued him and said, "If you hadn't rescued me, they would have killed me." During the work carried out by the Robbery Bureau Department, victim Doğukan M. was detained on the charge of 'defrauding a mentally disabled person'. It was also stated that Doğukan M., whose statement was taken as a suspect, said that the things he received were gifts.
Three suspects whose police procedures were completed, and Doğukan M., against whom proceedings were initiated, as well as 2 underage suspects from the Public Order Branch Directorate, were referred to the courthouse by the Juvenile Branch Directorate.
