In the Atakum district of Samsun, one person from a group of Syrian relatives who entered the sea to cool off drowned and died, while two others were taken to the hospital. In the Atakum district of Samsun, one person from a Syrian relative group who entered the sea to cool off drowned, while two others were hospitalized. It was learned that prior to the incident, the Samsun Governor's Office had warned citizens not to enter the sea due to adverse weather conditions.

The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on the shore behind the 19 Mayıs Police Vocational School in the İncesu Yalı neighborhood of Atakum district.

According to information obtained, four Syrian nationals, reported to be relatives living in the Canik district, entered the sea to cool off. During this time, three people in the group were swept away by the strong waves of the Black Sea and disappeared.

Upon notification, police, medical, and Coast Guard teams were dispatched to the area. During search efforts supported by citizens, Mohammedi Omar Alsayed (41) and Mohammed Omar Alsayed (43) were removed from the sea and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Ahmed Omar Alsayed (36), washed ashore by the waves, died despite all interventions by doctors at the hospital. It was reported that the two individuals under treatment continue to receive care at the hospital.

GOVERNOR'S OFFICE HAD WARNED

Meanwhile, in a statement made by the Samsun Governor's Office before the incident, it was noted that based on data from the 10th Regional Directorate of Meteorology and the Coast Guard Black Sea Regional Command, wave heights were expected to reach 1.5 to 2 meters, and wind speeds were expected to reach 15 to 25 nautical miles across the city.

The Governor's Office had warned citizens not to enter the sea due to adverse weather and sea conditions.
