New details have emerged regarding the incident in Trabzon in which Gülşah Oktay (33) was shot dead in the middle of the street with 7 bullets by her ex-husband Aydın Yediparmak (51). It was stated that Oktay saved the life of murder suspect Yediparmak, who attempted suicide by taking pills 14 days before the incident.
The incident occurred around 15:00 on October 6 in Yeşilce Neighborhood of Arsin district. Aydın Yediparmak and Gülşah Oktay, who had divorced 20 days earlier, began arguing for an unknown reason in the vehicle where they met. As the argument grew, Aydın Yediparmak fired his handgun at Gülşah Oktay. While Yediparmak fled, Oktay, who was hit by 7 bullets in various parts of her body, was injured. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Oktay, who received first aid from the teams, was taken to Kanuni Training and Research Hospital and underwent surgery. Gülşah Oktay died in the hospital where she was receiving treatment. The suspect, caught through the work of police teams, was detained.
HE HAD ATTEMPTED SUICIDE 14 DAYS EARLIER
It emerged that Aydın Yediparmak, who attempted suicide 14 days earlier because he was experiencing financial difficulties, was saved by his ex-wife Gülşah Oktay. It was learned that Oktay, who went to Yediparmak after he took 4 tablets of medication at home and became ill, asked for help from medical teams after noticing empty medication boxes in the trash. Yediparmak, who became ill at home, was taken to the hospital and received treatment. It was reported that in the statement Yediparmak gave to the police that day, he said he did not hear the phone or doorbell because he was unconscious and stated that he did not complain about anyone.
“WE GOT A CONSENSUAL DIVORCE TO ESCAPE DEBT ENFORCEMENT”
Aydın Yediparmak, who is alleged to have 4 separate criminal records, confessed to the murder during questioning at the police station. Yediparmak, who stated that he had debt, said, “We got a consensual divorce to escape enforcement because my wife owned real estate. After the divorce, Gülşah was living with her mother. Due to financial difficulties, arguments were breaking out between us; she wanted the loan money she had given me back. On the day of the incident, she said our newborn baby’s formula had run out, and we met for ID procedures. As I was going, I bought a rose and placed it on the seat. We handled the procedures and came in front of my house. Because my phone battery died, I took the charger from home. Gülşah asked about the debt she had given me, then called me a ‘thief’ and blamed my family. I could not stomach this. I drew my gun and fired. She tried to stop the gun; she got out of the vehicle and was walking while holding her leg. I caught up with her and fired the gun again. When she fell to the ground, I dropped the gun and went up to the house. The incident happened suddenly; I regret it,” he stated.
After police procedures, Aydın Yediparmak was referred to the courthouse and was arrested and sent to prison by the On-Duty Criminal Magistrates' Court on the charge of ‘intentional killing’.
