An elderly couple living in Adana became the target of scammers posing as police officers. After the couple handed over their gold worth approximately 10 million 200 thousand lira to the suspects, gendarmerie teams launched an operation following their report.
In the incident that occurred in the Yüreğir district, the suspects, who called the couple aged 86 and 79, claimed that their names were involved in fraud and gold theft cases. The individuals, stating that an operation would be carried out, demanded the delivery of the gold at home.
THEY HANDED OVER 10 MILLION WORTH OF GOLD
Believing the scammers' directions, the elderly couple gave their gold worth approximately 10 million 200 thousand lira to the suspects. After the situation was realized following the incident, gendarmerie teams started an investigation.
GOLD, CURRENCY, AND DRUG PILLS FOUND AT ADDRESS
Adana Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams determined the address where the suspects were hiding and carried out an operation. During the raid, 2 bracelets, 4 quarter gold coins, 46 Republic gold coins, 35,000 TL, 2,140 euros, 720 dinars, 600 dollars, and 8,416 drug pills were seized.
2 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Among the 3 suspects detained in the operation, H.A. and S.A. were arrested by the court and sent to prison. One suspect was released under judicial control.
