Alex Scott opened the scoring in the 13th minute, while Genoa responded through Mikael Ellertsson in the 41st minute. However, Bournemouth increased their pressure towards the end of the first half; they went into the break 4-1 ahead thanks to Justin Kluivert's two penalty goals in the 45th and 45+7th minutes and Adrien Truffert's goal in the 45+5th minute. Bournemouth did not slow down in the second half, with Alex Scott scoring again in the 52nd minute to extend the lead to four. Then, goals from David Brooks in the 63rd minute, Daniel Jebbison in the 67th minute, and Malcom Dacosta in the 76th minute made it 8-1.
