The fifth round of the prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel has been carried out. Three Israeli male prisoners from the Gaza Strip were handed over to Red Cross teams. The Qassam Brigades responded to U.S. President Trump's statement, "Gaza will be handed over to the U.S. by Israel when the conflicts are over," with a banner that read, "We are your flood. We are the day after the war."
In the fifth round of the prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel, Israeli male prisoners Eli Sharabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Ami were handed over to Red Cross teams in the city of Deir al-Balah in the Gaza Strip. It was known that one of the prisoners, Ohad Ben Ami, held dual citizenship of Germany and Israel.
183 PALESTINIANS WILL BE RELEASED IN EXCHANGE FOR 3 ISRAELIS
In exchange for the release of 3 Israeli prisoners, 183 Palestinian prisoners will be released today. Among the 183 Palestinian prisoners, 18 have been sentenced to life imprisonment, 54 have received heavy prison sentences, and 111 are individuals who were detained after October 7, 2023, from the Gaza Strip.
RESPONSE FROM KASSAM BRIGADES TO TRUMP
The armed wing of Hamas, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, hung a large banner reading "We are your flood. We are the day after the war." over the platform where the Israeli prisoners would be handed over in the fifth round of the exchange agreement.
The statement, written in Arabic, Hebrew, and English, was a response to U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks about forcibly displacing Palestinians in Gaza and how governance in Gaza would look after the war, stating, "Gaza will be handed over to the U.S. by Israel when the conflicts end."
Local media commented that the Kassam Brigades' decision to hand over the prisoners in Deir al-Balah, which has suffered relatively less damage from Israeli attacks, also carried a message against Trump's statements that Gaza is "completely destroyed" and "uninhabitable."
PRISONER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached between Hamas and Israel came into effect on Sunday, January 19, at 12:15 PM (GMT+3). According to the ceasefire agreement, which will consist of three phases, more than 1,900 Palestinians and 33 Israelis are expected to be released in the first phase, which will last 42 days.
