In Kahramanmaraş, it was determined that 28-year-old İsmail Yiğit, who presented to the hospital with complaints of shortness of breath and getting tired quickly, had a hole in his heart and that 4 veins coming from his lungs were flowing in the opposite direction. Yiğit regained his health with the closed surgery performed.
İsmail Yiğit, who lives in Kahramanmaraş, applied to Sütçü İmam University Health Practice and Research Hospital due to complaints of shortness of breath and getting tired quickly.
IT OPENS TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HEART INSTEAD OF THE LEFT SIDE
In the examinations and tests performed by Professor Dr. Mehmet Kirişci, faculty member of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, and his team, it was determined that Yiğit had a congenital hole in his heart and that the 4 veins coming from the lungs opened into the right side of the heart instead of the left side. While the hole in Yiğit's heart was closed during surgery, the vessels connected to the wrong place were also directed to the correct area. After the surgery performed with a closed method through an approximately 4-5 centimeter incision under the armpit, Yiğit regained his health.
"ONE OF THE DISEASES UNKNOWN IN SOCIETY"
Stating that they performed a successful surgery, Prof. Dr. Kirişçi said, "Mr. İsmail is a 28-year-old patient of ours. His vessels, the veins coming from the lungs, were draining to the wrong place from birth. It was a condition in which they should have drained from the left side of the heart, but they drained into the right side. It is one of the diseases unknown in society. Of course, it is not one of the common congenital heart diseases. Since the amount of blood going to the lungs, its excessive amount increases, it raises pulmonary pressure and creates a serious shortness of breath condition. We performed this surgery with a closed method, entering through the armpit with an approximately four-to-five-centimeter incision. We both closed the hole in his heart and also ensured that the wrongly draining vessels were transferred to the correct place. In this way, he regained his health. Whatever a normal healthy individual is, Mr. İsmail is now in that condition," he said.
