The "Maghreb Resistance Convoy," consisting of hundreds of activists from Algeria, Tunisia, and Mauritania who set out to break the blockade in Gaza, has entered Libyan territory.
The "Maghreb Resistance Convoy," which set out to break the blockade in Gaza, has reached Libya. The convoy, which crossed into the country from the Ras Cedir border gate between Tunisia and Libya during the night, was welcomed by hundreds of Libyans. The convoy is spending the night in Ras Cedir and is heading towards Zawiya, near the capital, which is its first stop in Libya.
"THOUSANDS WILL JOIN UNTIL WE REACH GAZA"
The convoy, which is expected to include Libyan activists, will also stop in the city of Misrata in the west of the country. The convoy consists of 12 buses and 100 vehicles, with over a thousand activists on board. Organized under the leadership of the Tunisia-based Independent Coordination for Solidarity with Palestine, the convoy is forming an important community. The spokesperson for the convoy, Dr. Muhammad Emin Bennur, stated in a press release yesterday, "We expect thousands of people to join the convoy until we reach Gaza."
MORE THAN 30 COUNTRIES ARE PARTICIPATING
Bennur stated, "This convoy is part of a global initiative involving more than 30 countries from Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia. We are coordinating with different organizations aiming to reach Gaza by land, sea, and air simultaneously. Our goal is to reach Gaza by land and to raise awareness of what is happening in Gaza through the events we will hold during the journey."
