Brown jellyfish, known locally as "compass jellyfish," were spotted on the coast of Süleymanpaşa district in Tekirdağ. Scientifically named Chrysaora hysoscella and classified among venomous species, these jellyfish were observed in the nearshore areas of the Marmara Sea.

On the coast of Tekirdağ Süleymanpaşa, poisonous compass jellyfish (Chrysaora hysoscella) were spotted in clusters. This species, which can cause burning and irritation on the skin upon contact, has approached the shore due to water temperature and currents in the Marmara Sea.

JELLYFISH FORMED CLUSTERS

It was observed that jellyfish moving near the water surface at various points along the coast occasionally formed clusters. The jellyfish concentrated in areas close to the shore created striking images on the sea surface.

FORMED CLUSTERS

It is assessed that jellyfish seen in the Marmara Sea during certain periods have approached the shore due to water temperature and sea currents. The brown compass jellyfish (Chrysaora hysoscella) seen on the Tekirdağ coast is known to be a poisonous species that can cause burning and irritation on the skin upon contact.
