With people leaving the city for the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday in Istanbul, traffic density dropped to 33%, creating smooth traffic flow on main arteries.

As many people left the city for the 9-day Eid al-Adha holiday in Istanbul, traffic congestion across the city decreased significantly. Traffic was observed to be flowing smoothly on main arteries where long vehicle queues typically form every weekday. With residents leaving Istanbul to spend the holiday in their hometowns or vacation resorts, traffic congestion in the city dropped to its lowest level. The roads remained empty due to the holiday break.

CONGESTION MEASURED AT 33 PERCENT AT NOON

Traffic congestion was notably reduced on the D-100 Highway. Drivers moved comfortably on main routes where long queues usually form every day. According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Traffic Density Map data, congestion was measured at 33 percent as of 1:30 PM. The empty main arteries and smooth traffic on the Golden Horn Bridge were captured from the air.
