In Adana, during a 'right of way' argument between two parties on motorcycles, Yiğit Özsoy (20) fatally stabbed Muhammad Habbu (18), a Syrian national, in the chest. After the incident, the fleeing suspects were caught in a police operation. Özsoy, who stated in his testimony, "We argued when he didn't give way. I stabbed him when he cursed and attacked," along with two of his friends, was arrested.
A FIGHT BROKE OUT BETWEEN THE PARTIES GETTING OFF THE MOTORCYCLE
The incident occurred on February 19 at around 23:30 in the Güzelyalı neighborhood of Çukurova district on Aşıklar Boulevard. Yiğit Özsoy and A.C.T. (17), who were out for a ride on a motorcycle driven by Mert Şengöz, argued with the motorcyclist Muhammad Habbu, who allegedly did not give way to them on the street. A fight broke out between the parties after they got off their motorcycles. During the scuffle, Özsoy stabbed Habbu in the chest with a knife he took out of his pocket. As Habbu collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood, the suspects fled the scene. Health and police teams were dispatched to the scene following reports from bystanders. Habbu, who was taken to Seyhan State Hospital by ambulance, could not be saved. After the autopsy, Habbu's lifeless body was buried.
'I STABBED HIM WHEN HE CURSED AND ATTACKED'
The police initiated a search for the suspects. The Homicide Bureau teams, examining security cameras in the area and along the route, identified the suspects' addresses. With the support of the Çukurova District Police Department teams, the suspects were caught at the addresses where they were hiding. Özsoy, one of the suspects taken to the police station, stated in his testimony, "We argued when he didn't give way. I stabbed him when he cursed and attacked." After their procedures, Yiğit Özsoy, Mert Şengöz, and A.C.T. were arrested by the court they were brought before.
