The death toll from the collapse of a student hostel in India's capital New Delhi yesterday has risen to 6.
5-STOREY HOSTEL BUILDING COLLAPSES, 6 STUDENTS KILLED
According to India Today, search and rescue operations are ongoing following the collapse of a 5-storey building used as a men's student hostel in the Satya Niketan area of the capital.
6 bodies have been recovered as a result of the hostel's collapse, and 11 injured people have been taken to hospital.
AT LEAST 30 PEOPLE TRAPPED UNDER THE RUBBLE
The building was reported to be 50 years old and collapsed during renovation works on its ground floor.
It is stated that at least 30 people remain trapped under the rubble.
India's Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken with officials from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to assess the situation.
