In the İspir district of Erzurum, 55-year-old Köksal Taşçı, who was undergoing psychological treatment, threw himself into a riverbed and was swept away by the current. Rescued by his sister and villagers, Taşçı's heart stopped on the way to the hospital, and he could not be saved.
A 55-year-old man, reportedly undergoing psychological treatment, lost his life after throwing himself into a stream in the İspir district of Erzurum.
The incident occurred in the morning hours in the Çatakkaya neighborhood of İspir district. According to available information, Köksal Taşçı (55), a father of two who had been receiving psychological treatment for about a month, left his home and ran towards a nearby stream bed. His sister and neighborhood residents, who saw Taşçı throw himself into the fast-flowing water, immediately took action and reported the situation to gendarmerie and medical teams.
HEART STOPPED ON THE WAY
Köksal Taşçı, who was pulled from the stream with intense efforts from his sister and villagers, received initial intervention from medical teams upon arrival at the scene. Transported by ambulance to İspir State Hospital, Taşçı's heart stopped during transit. Despite doctors at the hospital's emergency department performing prolonged chest compressions and intensive intervention, Taşçı could not be revived and passed away.
INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED INTO INCIDENT
The body of deceased Köksal Taşçı was sent to the Erzurum Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Gendarmerie teams have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident, and it was reported that the inquiry is ongoing.
