The Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, denied the resignation news in a statement on his social media account. Here are Minister Şimşek's statements: "Apparently, the official statements were not enough, so let me write it here too! I did not resign. The circulating scenarios are not true. The economic management is working with a team spirit. We are aware of the great and difficult responsibility we have taken. We are working every day to improve ourselves with the consciousness of this responsibility. Our economic stability and reform program is working successfully and we have started to achieve the desired results. The current account deficit has narrowed, the reserves of the Central Bank have improved, the outflow from the CBRT continues rapidly, we are improving the budget balance by taking measures to eliminate the effects of EYT and the earthquake on the budget, and most importantly, we are moving towards the target of price stability with strong steps. There has been a significant and permanent decrease in inflation. In this challenging process, we always feel the strong support of our President. Our only goal is to permanently increase the welfare of our noble nation under the leadership of our President. We have no other purpose or mission other than serving our people. While we carry the responsibility and consciousness of our duty, the fabrication of periodic stories at the desk shows that our path is correct. We can never allow our economy and markets to be affected by fabricated stories. Those who continue to spread these rumors despite our denial cannot be well-intentioned. Please do not be deceived!"
