US President Donald Trump made new and harsh statements against the Tehran administration on the 14th day of the ongoing war with Iran. Trump stated that attacks on Iran would intensify further.
WILL THE ATTACKS INTENSIFY?
In his latest statement, Trump used the words, "Next week we will hit Iran very hard," signaling that Washington may increase military operations.
"WATCH WHAT HAPPENS TO THESE CRAZY COWARDS..."
In another statement made earlier in the day, the US President targeted the Iranian administration, saying, "Watch what happens to these crazy cowards today. They have been killing innocent people around the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do this!"
TRUMP HAD SAID "WE ARE CLOSE TO THE END OF THE WAR"! SO WHAT HAS CHANGED?
Despite US President Donald Trump's statement that "we are close to the end of the war," there are several reasons for his now harsher rhetoric. In short, the situation on the ground did not develop as he expected.
1. The Iranian administration did not collapse
Trump's plan was for the heavy attacks at the beginning of the war to quickly weaken the Iranian administration or for the regime to start collapsing from within. However, this did not happen, and the Iranian administration remained intact.
2. Iran continues to retaliate
Iran did not back down after the first days of the war; it responded with missiles, drones, and regional attacks. This made it difficult for the war to end quickly.
3. The goals of the US and Israel are different
While the US wants the war to end quickly, the Israeli administration seeks a larger goal, such as regime change in Iran. This is seen as one of the most important factors leading to the prolongation of the war.
4. Trump wants to end the war on his terms
Trump states that he wants the war to end, but it must happen under the conditions desired by the US. Therefore, while he sometimes says "the war could end," on the other hand, he also makes harsher military threats.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
While negotiations between the Tehran and Washington administrations continue, Israel and the US launched a military attack on Iran on February 28. Iran responded with attacks on targets it identified in several regional countries, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Bahrain, in addition to Israel.
In the US-Israel attacks, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with many high-ranking officials, was killed. According to Iranian officials, the death toll from the US-Israel attacks exceeded 1,348, and the number of injured surpassed 17,000.
