U.S. President Donald Trump praised Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the White House meeting with Tom Barrack, whom he nominated for the position of U.S. Ambassador to Ankara.
US President Trump met with some ambassadors who will go to different countries after being approved by the Senate at the White House. Barrack, who has been nominated for the position of Ambassador to Ankara, made a brief statement to the press along with other ambassador candidates.

Ambassador candidate Barrack expressed his pleasure in working with Trump and thanked him, describing Turkey as "one of the oldest civilizations." US President Trump responded to Barrack's words, saying, "It's a good country; its leader is good."
WHO IS TOM BARRACK?
77-year-old Barrack, who was born and raised in California, completed his undergraduate education at the University of Southern California and his law education at San Diego University. Barrack, who is the grandson of a Lebanese Christian immigrant family that migrated to the US from the city of Zahle in Lebanon in 1900, grew up in Culver City, Los Angeles, where his father was a grocer and his mother was a secretary.
During his student years, Barrack got involved in sports by joining the rugby team and worked as a lawyer in Saudi Arabia. Serving as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Interior under the Reagan administration in the 1980s, Barrack was a neighbor of the 40th President of the United States, Ronald Reagan, in the Rancho del Cielo area of California.
