TRUMP: WE WILL BLOW UP OMAN
In a statement after the Cabinet meeting, US President Donald Trump issued a harsh threat against Oman, which has rights over the Strait of Hormuz like Iran. Trump said, "Oman has to act like everyone else regarding Hormuz. Otherwise, we will blow them up. They understand that."
"THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ WILL BE OPEN TO EVERYONE"
Trump said, "When the right time comes, we will release the boats from the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz will be open to everyone, no one will control it."
THE HORMUZ DEADLOCK BETWEEN THE US AND IRAN
Behind the tension is Iran's desire to establish a joint mechanism with Oman to charge fees from commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. The US administration strongly opposes this plan, stating that control of the strait will not be left to any country and that international free passage rules will be maintained.
WHITE HOUSE DENIES CLAIMS OF "HORMUZ AGREEMENT"
Meanwhile, the White House flatly denied claims that a draft agreement was prepared to transfer the management of ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to Iran and Oman and to withdraw US troops from the region. In an official statement, it was stated that the text of the memorandum of understanding put forward by Iranian sources was entirely fabricated.
IRAN STATE TELEVISION: 14-ARTICLE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING READY
Iran state television broadcast a news report claiming to have obtained an "unofficial first document" regarding the framework of a 14-article memorandum of understanding prepared between Iran and the US with Pakistan's mediation.
According to the information in the report, within the framework of the possible agreement, the US committed to lifting the naval blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran also agreed to return commercial ship passages to pre-tension levels within one month.
"IRAN AND OMAN WILL COORDINATE PASSAGES IN THE STRAIT"
The draft noted that military ships were excluded from the scope of the agreement, and the management and route of ship passages would be carried out in cooperation between Iran and Oman.
"US AGREED TO WITHDRAW TROOPS FROM THE REGION"
The document also stated that the US committed to withdrawing its military forces from the region around Iran, but negotiations continue on whether this covers forces later deployed to the region or troops stationed at existing bases.
According to the draft text, if the parties reach a final agreement within 60 days, the memorandum is expected to be approved as a binding resolution by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
The report also stated that the "Islamabad memorandum of understanding framework" has not yet been finalized and that Iran will not take any step without "concrete verification."
