Forest fires broke out in the Fethiye district of Muğla, the Kepez district of Antalya, the Kuyucak district of Aydın, and in Afyonkarahisar. The fire, which started near residential areas in Fethiye, quickly spread over a wide area due to the wind. In the fire in the Kepez district of Antalya, some houses in the area were evacuated.
Forest fires, which have become a bleeding wound in Turkey, continue to spread due to the hot weather. Teams are responding from the air and ground to a forest fire that broke out near Göcek Gökçeovacık neighborhood in the Fethiye district of Muğla. Initially, 5 helicopters, 3 firefighting planes, 15 water tankers, 7 water carriers, and 3 bulldozers were dispatched to the fire. A total of 130 personnel are involved in the extinguishing efforts.
AIR AND GROUND INTERVENTION
Teams are continuously working in a coordinated manner from the air and ground to prevent the fire from spreading to surrounding areas and to bring the flames under control.
It was learned that investigations into the cause of the fire will be conducted by relevant teams.
FOREST FIRE IN ANTALYA REACHES RESIDENTIAL AREAS
A forest fire broke out in the Kepez district of Antalya. The flames are being responded to from the air and ground. The fire started at noon in the forest in Çamlıca neighborhood, Kepez district. Air and ground intervention has been initiated. Teams are continuing their response.
HOMES EVACUATED
In the initial response, 5 firefighting helicopters, 4 firefighting planes, 12 water tankers, 4 water supply vehicles, 4 initial response vehicles, and numerous forest workers intervened from the air and ground. Residents near the fire area arranged their gardens and conducted excavation work with machinery to prevent the flames from reaching their homes. Some wet the surrounding dry grass with water carried in buckets to prevent it from burning. While precautions by citizens continue, some houses in the area have also been evacuated. Gendarmerie teams took precautions around the area to prevent citizens from entering the risky zone.
FOREST FIRE IN AYDIN
A fire broke out around 12:30 in the forest near Kayran neighborhood in the Kuyucak district of Aydın. Upon notification, Forest Management Directorate and fire department teams were dispatched to the area. Air and ground intervention against the flames continues.
FOREST FIRE IN AFYONKARAHISAR
Intervention has begun to extinguish a forest fire that started in Afyonkarahisar.
A fire broke out around 1:00 PM in a forested area between the towns of Sülün and Büyükkalecik, and Bayraktepe neighborhood, connected to the city center. The fire, whose cause has not yet been determined, grew rapidly. Upon noticing the fire, 9 fire trucks, 4 forest management vehicles, numerous construction machines, and personnel were dispatched to the area.
Air support was requested to extinguish the fire in the area where land access is difficult. Meanwhile, the dense smoke caused by the fire was also visible from the city center.
