According to information compiled by an AA correspondent from Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data, the 15-24 age group is defined as the youth population within countries' total populations.
Of the world's total population of approximately 8.2 billion last year, 1 billion 283 million 150 thousand 313 were in the 15-24 age range. This youth population constitutes 15.6 percent of the total population.
In Türkiye, there are 12 million 708 thousand 348 people in this age range, with 14.8 percent of the total population of 86.1 million falling within the 15-24 age bracket.
YOUTH SURPASSES TOTAL OF 117 COUNTRIES
With its dynamic population and a youth demographic critical to the economic, social, and technological future of nations, Türkiye surpasses the total populations of over 100 countries.
According to the data, Türkiye's youth population of 12.7 million exceeds the total populations of 117 out of 194 countries.
Among the countries whose total populations are surpassed by the number of young people in Türkiye are Tunisia with a total population of 12.3 million, the United Arab Emirates with 11.3 million, and Portugal with 10.4 million.
TÜRKİYE HAS THE MOST YOUTH IN EUROPE
Türkiye ranks first in Europe in terms of youth population, one of the greatest forces shaping countries' futures.
When looking at the countries with the closest 15-24 age population to Türkiye's 12.7 million youth, the United Kingdom ranks with 8.3 million, Germany with 8 million, and Italy with 6 million.
Türkiye, which holds the top spot in Europe for youth population, also surpasses the total populations of 19 of the 27 European Union (EU) member countries with its youth.
Among the EU members where Türkiye's youth population exceeds their total populations are countries such as Greece, Belgium, and Hungary.
