MYSTERIOUS EXPLOSIONS AT POWER PLANTS
In addition to Tripoli, there is a general power outage from the cities of Surman, Zawiya, and Sabrata to the Ras Ajdir border crossing between Libya and Tunisia. Meanwhile, reports in the Libyan media stated that explosion sounds came from the Al-Kharsha power plant in the city of Zawiya.
Across Libya, power outages lasting between 4 and 10 hours a day have been occurring for about two months. Last week in the city of Zawiya, armed groups attacked a power plant with kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and the plant was completely burned down and put out of service.
OIL FACILITIES IN ZAWIYA ALSO ATTACKED
In recent times, attacks have been carried out with kamikaze UAVs against oil facilities in the city of Zawiya, where clashes between armed groups have intensified.
The Libyan National Oil Corporation stated on August 12 that a state of emergency was declared in the region due to repeated attacks on oil facilities in Zawiya, and that if the attacks continued, they would have to declare force majeure at the Zawiya Oil Refinery and completely halt activities at the refinery.
In a statement made after the attack by the Brega Oil Company, affiliated with the Libyan National Oil Corporation, armed groups in the region were warned to urgently stop the clashes and the parties were warned to stay away from oil facilities.
In recent times, clashes have been occurring between armed groups in the city of Zawiya. Since the clashes sometimes take place around oil fields and refineries, force majeure has been declared in some of these fields and production has been halted.
