Two important figures of Hungarian and Serbian politics, Viktor Orbán and Aleksandar Vučić, came together in Belgrade after their election defeats. The two leaders, who gave a message of determination regarding their political futures at the meeting, emphasized that they would return to the stage, while Vučić's words despite the election results, “We have not lost our dignity, pride, and faith,” stood out.

Hungary's former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Serbia's former President Aleksandar Vucic met in Belgrade after their election defeats. During the meeting, both leaders sent the message that they would continue their political struggle, while Vucic's words "We lost the elections, but we did not lose our dignity, our pride, or our faith" drew attention.

THEY MET IN BELGRADE

At the meeting held in Serbia's capital, Belgrade, Vucic welcomed Orbán with the words "My great friend, my brother." The Serbian politician, who shared joint footage of the meeting held at Vucic's father's house near Belgrade, emphasized that despite their election defeats, the two leaders had not given up on their political beliefs.

Orbán also expressed his support for Vucic, saying, "Friends always remain friends. In difficult times, you gain better friends. Aleksandar, you can be sure that I have always been by your side." Vucic responded to these words with "Thank you, we will come back."

BOTH LEADERS SUFFERED ELECTION DEFEATS

Viktor Orbán lost the general elections held in Hungary on April 12, thus ending his 16-year term as prime minister. In Serbia, in the early general elections held on October 25, the list led by Vucic was defeated by the Student List movement, which was led by students. Vucic accepted defeat on election night.

In his statements after the election defeat, Vucic stated that his party would be restructured and said they aimed to return to power within about two years.
