In the Çamaş district, two sisters aged 60 and 65 who fell from a cliff into a stream while picking hazelnuts were buried on the same day. It was learned that the sisters had married brothers, with each becoming a bride in the same household.

Two sisters, Melehat (60) and Fatma Gümüş (65), who fell from a cliff into a stream in Ordu's Çamaş district, were laid to rest.

DIED AFTER FALLING OFF A CLIFF

The incident occurred yesterday at the Domşu Küme Evleri area of Sarıyakup neighborhood in the Çamaş district. According to the information obtained, a search was initiated by relatives and residents when no word was received from Melehat Gümüş and her sister Fatma Gümüş, who had gone to their garden. Upon the notification, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. As a result of the searches, the lifeless bodies of the two sisters were found. According to initial assessments, it was determined that the two sisters lost their balance and fell from the cliff into the stream while they were in the garden picking hazelnuts.

A funeral ceremony was held for the two sisters in Sarıyakup neighborhood of the Çamaş district. The sisters were buried in the same neighborhood after the funeral prayer was held in front of their home following the afternoon prayer.

THEY WERE MARRIED TO TWO BROTHERS LIKE THEMSELVES

On the other hand, it was learned that the deceased sisters were married to men who were brothers, just like themselves. It was learned that Melehat Gümüş was married to Ali Gümüş and was the mother of 6 children, while Fatma Gümüş was married to Mehmet Gümüş and was the mother of 2 children.

What remained of the two deceased sisters was the hazelnuts they had collected in the garden. The sisters were buried in a cemetery located within the garden where they were picking hazelnuts, approximately 50 meters away from where they lost their lives.

"FATE DID NOT SEPARATE THEM"

Kemal Yaman, a neighbor of the deceased sisters, said, "Currently, it's hazelnut picking time around here. These sisters of ours didn't come for lunch while picking hazelnuts in their own garden. Then they called their phones, and when they didn't answer, a search was started. During the search, their bodies were found in the stream at the bottom after the cliff. It's not clear how they went, but our guess is that when one was going, the other reached out her hand, and the two sisters rolled down. In fact, these two sisters were born and grew up in the same house and went to the same house as brides. Maybe if someone else had been with them, it could have been different; at that moment, they were both picking hazelnuts together."

On the other hand, the investigation into the incident continues.
