A striking transfer claim has been made regarding the future of Romelu Lukaku, who has fallen below expectations at Fenerbahçe. It has been claimed that MLS sides New York City and Atlanta United want to add the Belgian striker to their squads, and that both clubs could knock on the door of the yellow-navy side in January.
Romelu Lukaku, whom Fenerbahçe transferred from Napoli at the start of the season, has failed to meet expectations with his performance on the pitch. It has been claimed that the 33-year-old footballer, who could not make the desired start in the yellow-navy shirt, may leave the team during the mid-season transfer window.
TWO CLUBS FROM THE US ENTERED THE PICTURE
It has been suggested that New York City and Atlanta United, from the US Major League Soccer (MLS), could take action for the Belgian star. It was stated that both clubs are closely following Lukaku's situation and may contact Fenerbahçe management during the mid-season transfer window that will begin in January. However, it has not yet become clear whether an official offer for the star footballer has reached the yellow-navy club.
ONLY 1 GOAL IN 13 MATCHES
Romelu Lukaku, who was transferred to Fenerbahçe with great expectations, has so far appeared in 13 matches in all competitions in the yellow-navy shirt. The experienced striker, who received a total of 420 minutes in these matches, was able to contribute only 1 goal and 1 assist. Lukaku's limited playing time and low performance in front of goal have increased doubts about his future at the team.
HIS CONTRACT RUNS UNTIL 2027
The Belgian striker's current contract with Fenerbahçe ends on June 30, 2027. Whether Lukaku, whose current market value is shown as 6 million euros, will leave the team in January remains uncertain.
EYES TURNED TO JANUARY
Whether the interest of New York City and Atlanta United will turn into an official offer will become clear in the coming period. How Fenerbahçe management will approach possible offers and which team Lukaku will continue his career with are eagerly awaited.
