U.S. President Trump stated that he spoke on the phone with King Abdullah II of Jordan and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, and he expressed that "the Gaza Strip is in ruins. 1 million Palestinians should settle in these countries, and we must completely clear Gaza and say 'It’s over.'"
U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement regarding Palestinian refugees on the presidential plane Air Force One. Trump noted that he spoke on the phone with King Abdullah II of Jordan and mentioned that he would also talk with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, stating about Palestinian refugees, "I want Egypt to take them. We're talking about approximately one and a half million people, and we should completely clear that area and say 'It's over.'
"I'M LOOKING AT THE ENTIRE GAZA STRIP, IT'S IN SHAMBLES"
Trump conveyed that he told King Abdullah, "I would like you to take more (refugees) because I’m looking at the entire Gaza Strip. It’s in shambles. Really in shambles." He stated that there have been "many disputes for centuries" in the region and mentioned that the resettlement of Palestinian refugees in Arab countries could be "temporary or long-term."
"ALMOST EVERYTHING IS DESTROYED AND PEOPLE ARE DYING THERE"
Trump said, "Something has to happen. But that area is officially a disaster zone right now. Almost everything is destroyed and people are dying there. Therefore, I would prefer to meet with some Arab countries and build homes elsewhere where (the Palestinians) can live in peace."
"THIS IS NOT OUR WAR, IT'S THEIR WAR"
U.S. President Trump, during a signing ceremony in the Oval Office where he signed several presidential decrees, expressed uncertainty about the continuation of the ceasefire in Gaza, stating, "This is not our war. This is their war."
"GAZA IS A WONDERFUL PLACE BY THE SEA"
Trump, who indicated that he could help with the reconstruction of Gaza, said, "Gaza is an interesting place. It has a wonderful location by the sea and a great climate. Beautiful things can be done there; really beautiful things can be done with Gaza."
