The statement of Selçuk Yılmaz, the manager of the Selçuksport website, who was arrested on allegations of illegally streaming football matches and directing users to illegal betting sites, has emerged. Yılmaz said, 'The sites you mentioned do not belong to me. I don't understand computers. It is not possible for me to use such sites. I absolutely do not engage in illegal betting. A registration was opened on the Selçuksport site using my email address from my stolen phone.'
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in coordination with the Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate and the MIT Regional Directorate, determined that Turkish Super League matches were offered via illegal broadcasts, and that when accessing the site named 'Selcuksport' to watch illegal match streams, there were posts encouraging illegal betting sites. Investigations identified the person managing the site as Selçuk Yılmaz. The suspect, Selçuk Yılmaz, apprehended in Denizli, gave a statement at the Istanbul Courthouse. Following the statement process at the courthouse, Yılmaz was arrested yesterday and sent to prison.
Meanwhile, Yılmaz's statement to the prosecutor has emerged.
"THE SITES DO NOT BELONG TO ME"
In his statement, Selçuk Yılmaz said, 'I have a martial arts school in Germany. I have no other income. Previously, I worked at a factory for about 10 years. During this period, my wife and I had a total income of around 3,000 euros. After leaving my job, I was unemployed for about a year, then I opened my martial arts school by paying 25,000 euros. I earn 10,000 euros per month here, but what remains for me is around 2,500-3,000 euros. I travel to Cyprus for vacation purposes. The last time I went to Cyprus was to clear my mind after an argument with my wife about work. I do not have any social media accounts. The sites you are asking about do not belong to me.'
"I DON'T KNOW ABOUT COMPUTERS"
Continuing his statement, Yılmaz said, 'I am a high school graduate. I went abroad at the age of 24. Until that age, I worked in construction. I didn't have a computer back then. I don't know about computers. It's not possible for me to use such sites. I definitely do not gamble illegally. An account was opened on the Selcuksport site with my email address registered from my stolen phone. The case opened following the investigation was concluded about three or four months ago. The case was resolved in my favor. My lawyers will submit the relevant documents to the file later. I do not accept the accusations against me.'
