THE QUEUE STRETCHED FOR HUNDREDS OF METERS
The vegetable seedlings distributed for free by Kırıkkale Municipality received intense interest from citizens. Citizens wishing to obtain vegetable seedlings flocked to the square hours in advance. The queues stretched for hundreds of meters during the distribution at three separate stands in Republic Square. Thousands of citizens, young and old, continued to wait to get seedlings.
In a statement, Mayor Ahmet Önal noted that the distribution has become traditional. Stating that half a million seedlings have been distributed to citizens in total, Önal said, "Today we are at the seedling distribution ceremony that we have made traditional in Republic Square. We are indeed distributing seedlings from three points. We are here to support our producers and farmers. There is a tremendous crowd. Thanks to them, all our producers are here.
ENTIRELY PREPARED WITH THE MUNICIPALITY'S BUDGET
As Kırıkkale Municipality, we are bringing together the seedlings we have prepared with our own means and entirely from our own budget throughout the year with our producers in Kırıkkale. There is a tremendous crowd and enthusiasm. Now, every year, our citizens say they benefit greatly from the seedlings they plant and that the seedlings are very productive. As a result, demand has increased significantly. Our work continues. We will have brought a total of half a million seedlings together with the citizens of Kırıkkale. It is raining, it comes with its blessing," he said.
WHEN I GET TO THE GARDEN, I DON'T REALIZE HOW TIME PASSES
Citizens waiting in line were satisfied with both the intense interest and the distributed seedlings. Serdar Bozkurt, who was waiting in line to get seedlings, stated that they continued to wait despite the weather conditions, saying, "The weather conditions are tough right now, but we still didn't want to break the queue."
Citizen Gürbüz Atasever noted that the distribution was proceeding in an orderly manner, saying, "Everything is going smoothly. Everyone respects each other. Kırıkkale will eat tomatoes and peppers. Thanks to our mayor." Mustafa Altıntaş, who said he enjoys working in the garden, stated, "When I get to the garden, I don't realize how time passes. Other times it doesn't pass, but in the garden, time flies. I used to have a coffee habit, I quit that too. Now I am very pleased."
Yıldız Bedir, who said she had been waiting in line for about 2 hours, said, "We will get tomato, pepper, and eggplant seedlings." Gülnaz Akkaya, who expressed her love for working with soil, said, "I also have flowers, I love the garden very much. Thanks to them, they always support us."
Mustafa Erçetin stated that they were pleased with the support provided, saying, "First of all, I thank our mayor very much. We are very happy for the seedling support. I have been wanting to plant for a long time. I had planted seedlings before."
