US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has decided to step down from her position, citing a rare bone cancer diagnosis for her husband. In a resignation letter shared on her social media account, addressed to President Donald Trump, Gabbard stated that she wishes to leave public service to be by her husband's side during his treatment. The resignation is effective as of June 30.

In the letter she shared, Gabbard thanked Trump, expressing her gratitude for the trust placed in her during her tenure.
Gabbard stated that her husband Abraham was recently diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer, emphasizing that she needs to focus on her family in the coming period.
In her letter, she conveyed, "He faces significant challenges in the weeks and months ahead. To be there for him and provide him with full support, I must step away from public service."
Gabbard noted her desire to ensure a seamless transition before leaving her post, pledging to work to prevent any disruptions within the administration.
She thanked the Trump administration for their understanding during this difficult time for her family.
TRUMP: SHE DID A GREAT JOB
US President Donald Trump also made a statement following Gabbard's resignation letter.
In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump argued that Gabbard had delivered a successful performance during her term and stated his support for her decision to be with her husband during his health process.
Trump also announced that Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas would temporarily assume the role.
DIFFERENT CLAIMS EMERGE IN US MEDIA
Although Gabbard cited only family reasons in her resignation, different assessments have also surfaced in the US media.
Some reports suggested that there had been disagreements between the White House and Gabbard, particularly regarding Iran policy and certain national security files.
