The developer of the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, OpenAI, announced that it will implement VAT before the end of the year. In a statement from the company, it was noted that starting from December, a VAT of 20% will be collected from users. In an informational email sent to users, the company stated, "We would like to inform you that starting from December 1st, value-added tax will be applied to your invoice. You will need to update your OpenAI account to add a valid tax identification number." VALID ACROSS ALL OF TURKEYIn the statement, users with a tax identification number were asked to share it with the company. The statement warned, "If you have a VAT registration in Turkey and a valid tax identification number, please add it to the tax status and identification section of your OpenAI account. If you do not provide a valid tax identification number by December 1st, we will need to collect 20% VAT from your invoice." OpenAI secured $6.6 billion in new funding with a valuation of $157 billion at the beginning of October.
