In the double murder case that occurred in Büyükçekmece in 2021 and garnered widespread public attention, the verdict has been announced. In the incident where Adalet Bike and Gökhan Denli were killed due to an alleged relationship, the court ruled that the defendants' actions fell under 'intentional homicide' and sentenced them to heavy prison terms.
A verdict has been reached in the case concerning the murder of Adalet Bike and Gökhan Denli, who were allegedly in a relationship, in Büyükçekmece. The court sentenced the main defendant, Mahmut Bike, to a total of 50 years in prison, while the other defendants, Fırat Bike and Öznur Erbek, were each given 39 years in prison.
COURT SAID "INTENTIONAL HOMICIDE," NOT "HONOR"
In the case heard at the Bakırköy 18th High Criminal Court, the panel ruled that the crime should be evaluated as "intentional homicide" rather than with the "motive of honor" as stated in the indictment. This decision led to the determination of the sentences within a different legal framework.
50 YEARS IN PRISON FOR MAHMUT BIKE
The court sentenced defendant Mahmut Bike to 16 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "intentional homicide" against Gökhan Denli, and 22 years and 6 months for the crime of "intentional homicide against a spouse" concerning his wife, Adalet Bike. Additionally, he was given 8 years for the crime of "deprivation of liberty" and 3 years for the crime of "possession of an unlicensed firearm." Thus, Mahmut Bike's total sentence is 50 years.
2 DEFENDANTS GET 39 YEARS EACH
Regarding defendants Fırat Bike and Öznur Erbek, they were each sentenced to 13 years for the crime of "intentional homicide" against Gökhan Denli, 18 years for the crime of "intentional homicide" against Adalet Bike, and 8 years for the crime of "deprivation of liberty." Both defendants were sentenced to a total of 39 years in prison each.
WHAT HAPPENED?
According to the indictment, the incident occurred in Büyükçekmece on June 21, 2021. Mahmut Bike, who had been released from prison, claimed his wife was in a relationship with someone else and tracked her location via her smartwatch. He went to the area with his brother Fırat Bike, his relative Selahattin Erbek, and his friend Furkan Özcan.
Seeing Adalet Bike and Gökhan Denli together in a park, Mahmut Bike stabbed and shot Denli, killing him. Subsequently, Adalet Bike was forced into a vehicle. The woman fell from the vehicle on the D-100 highway and was run over by the following vehicle, driven by Fırat Bike, resulting in her death.
FILES OF FUGITIVE DEFENDANTS SEPARATED
The files of the fugitive defendants Selahattin Erbek and Furkan Özcan related to the incident have been separated, and it has been learned that the judicial process against these individuals will continue separately.
