Greece's National Public Health Organization (EODY) shared data on the West Nile virus.
Accordingly, 75 new West Nile virus cases were detected in the country between August 19-26.
Since the beginning of the year, the number of deaths due to the West Nile virus in the country has increased by 6 in the last week, reaching 19.
THE COUNTRY WITH THE MOST CASES AFTER ITALY
According to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), Greece is the country with the most West Nile virus cases after Italy.
According to a report by the newspaper Kathimerini, the reasons the West Nile virus is so widespread in Greece include the country's geographical location, climatic conditions that allow mosquitoes to survive year-round, and the lack of mosquito control programs in some municipalities.
