The "dual-headed" group meeting conflict in CHP turned into a scuffle at the doors of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, prompting the Assembly Presidency to officially intervene. TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced that due to the "serious security risk," no outside visitors will be allowed into today's CHP Group Meeting.

In the Republican People's Party (CHP), following a confrontation between supporters of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel in front of the TBMM Dikmen Gate, where slogan protests turned into a scuffle, the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Presidency took extraordinary measures.

During the crisis, as negotiations continued and 6,000 visitors waited to enter, TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş announced the official decision.

"A SERIOUS SECURITY RISK HAS ARISEN"

TBMM Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, relying on the authority granted by the Assembly's internal regulations, highlighted the danger posed by the crowd accumulating at the gates. In an official letter sent to the CHP Group, it was stated that a visitor ban has been imposed to protect the security of the parliament campus.

Kurtulmuş announced his decision with the following words:

"Due to the serious security risk at the entrance gates of the TBMM Campus prior to the group meeting scheduled by the Republican People's Party Group on 09.06.2026, visitors will not be admitted to your group meeting in accordance with the relevant provision of the Internal Regulations."

ONLY MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WILL BE IN THE HALL

This decision completely disrupted the "show of force" strategy planned by both leaders in the Assembly hall. The thousands of supporters that the Kılıçdaroğlu camp planned to bring into the hall and the crowd that the Özel camp gathered at the gate early in the morning will not be allowed into the parliament campus.

Following the visitor ban, only members of parliament and party staff will be able to attend the meeting at 13:30 in the hall. Attention now turns to the next step the leaders will take in the Assembly, where the doors are locked.
