In Tokat, while approximately 1,400 people applied to hospitals with complaints of nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, 15 people were hospitalized for treatment. Tokat Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu, stating that no adverse findings were detected in drinking water analyses, asked citizens to consume water by boiling it until new test results are announced.
In the city center of Tokat, around 21:00 yesterday, a large number of people applied to hospitals with complaints of nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. As the complaints first seen in children also appeared in adults, the number of people applying to hospitals reached 1,300-1,400. Fifteen of the patients were hospitalized for treatment.
APPLICATIONS TO HOSPITALS INCREASED
After the illnesses that began in the evening hours in the city center, many children and adults applied to healthcare institutions. As complaints of nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain increased, Tokat Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu and Head of Public Health Services of the Tokat Provincial Health Directorate Dr. İhsan Canbolat made statements.
15 PEOPLE ARE UNDERGOING INPATIENT TREATMENT
Dr. İhsan Canbolat, Head of Public Health Services of the Tokat Provincial Health Directorate, stated that the first applications came from children, and then similar complaints were seen in adults. Canbolat said, "Initially, our pediatric patients applied to us with complaints of nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Later, there was a spillover to adult patients. We have 15 inpatients, and all of them are in good general condition. In the applications that started around 21:00 yesterday, the total number is around 1,300-1,400, but since the process continues, the numbers will vary."
NO ADVERSE FINDING DETECTED IN DRINKING WATER SAMPLES
Tokat Mayor Mehmet Kemal Yazıcıoğlu announced that drinking water samples taken from across the city are analyzed regularly.
Yazıcıoğlu, noting that no odor or color change was found in observational checks carried out on drinking water, said that no change in water quality was detected even during periods of heavy rainfall. Yazıcıoğlu reported that no adverse finding was encountered in the latest tests conducted on October 5, 2026.
WARNING TO CITIZENS TO BOIL WATER BEFORE CONSUMING
Mayor Yazıcıoğlu emphasized that citizens should be cautious until new test results are announced. Yazıcıoğlu said, "Drinking water samples taken from all over our city are analyzed regularly. In observational checks carried out on drinking water, no odor or color change has been found. Even during periods of heavy rainfall, no change in drinking water quality has been detected. In the latest test results conducted on October 5, 2026, no adverse finding was encountered. Until the test results are announced, I kindly request that our citizens use water cautiously and by boiling it for a temporary period. During this time, there may be a slight odor in drinking water due to chlorination. It is kindly requested that our citizens follow our official institutions for accurate information."
