Before the extraordinary congress to be held next Sunday, Sakaryaspor's president Gökhan İn was attacked in his office. The club's Advertising and Sponsorship Officer Cengiz Hamza Cengiz Şen slapped Gökhan İn.
THE ATTACK WAS CAPTURED ON CAMERA
In the scandalous footage that shocked the agenda, the attacker who slapped President İn was recorded speaking second by second. The attacker was seen saying, "Listen to me, you will not use names. There is no press release anymore, bro. This is over. You will also pay the 150,000 TL that Birol received this week. Do you hear me?" and slapped İn.
"I HAVE A HEART"
President İn, who experienced terrifying moments during the attack, responded, "Okay, son. Calm down. I have a heart, you know that, right? Okay."
GÖKHAN İN LEFT THE CITY
A new development occurred in the incident. After the events spread, club president Gökhan İn told his relatives, "I will get into trouble," and left the city.
HE WAS DETAINED IN ISTANBUL
A detention order was issued for suspect Cengiz Şen as part of the investigation. Şen, who was detained by police teams in Istanbul, was brought to Sakarya. After completing his procedures at the Provincial Security Directorate's Public Order Branch, the suspect was referred to the courthouse after a health check. Cengiz Şen, who slapped President Gökhan İn, and the person who recorded the video also emerged.
HIS STATEMENT WAS REVEALED
In his statement at the police station, suspect Cengiz Şen said that he could not control his anger after the argument, stating, "We worked together in the management. A discussion arose regarding the problems in the management. Accordingly, I could not control myself."
Additionally, Cengiz Şen claimed that the club's Vice President S.İ., who resigned from his position on August 29, 2024, was also present during the incident and that he did not know how the footage spread. Police teams initiated work to find S.İ., who was identified as the person who recorded the video, to take his statement.
S.İ. announced his resignation with the following statement: "During my term, I tried to do my best in line with the interests of our club. However, some decisions and steps taken recently have become essential for the future of our club. While I do not want to lose my faith in the success of our club during this process, I see that necessary steps have not been taken to correct these mistakes and that the current situation is not sustainable. Under these conditions, I believe that the most correct and responsible decision for our club is to resign from my position. I would like to thank all my colleagues, the technical team, the players, all the staff, and the Büyük Sakaryaspor fans who contributed to our club. I maintain my belief that our club will overcome the challenges it faces and reach the place it deserves. With my best wishes for the future."
